One of our customers in the power plant industry was suffering from corroded pipes that were experiencing erosion from salty seawater. With lining being worn down in less than 36 months, they needed another solution. Chesterton experts applied the ARC S2, a ceramic reinforced thin film coating and, despite comparisons and reviews of other company’s products, the ARC S2 was chosen as the customer’s new go-to coating product.

Our customer (power plant industry) used a company’s product for seawater piping. Pipes had been corroded and eroded by seawater. In particular, the lining of the flanges and the pipes’ welding area were damaged in less than 36 months.
The customer wanted to extend the life of the piping by more than 60 months, and didn’t want to damage the flange or the welding area.
We applied ARC S2 to the sweater piping. ARC S2 is a 100% solids, ceramic reinforced thin film coating to protect structures against erosion, abrasion, and corrosion.
ARC S2 industrial coating is designed to:
- Protect against corrosion and erosion
- Provide improved material flow properties
- Be applied by brush, roller, airless or plural-component spraying
- Cleaned all contaminants.
- Made to the roughness of 75-125 microns by grit blasting.
Applied 2 coats of ARC: 700-750μm
Several competitive coating companies we reviewed, however the Chesterton ARC S2 products were chosen to coat the seawater piping, due to the extended life of the pipe in this service.
